Circa Expresso, Parramatta

Hidden in the centre of Parramatta CBD, away from busy Church St, is a small and quirky cafe called Circa Expresso. A friend once told me that it was previously an alleyway between two buildings before being converted into a small cafe. If not for the graffiti on the walls, hat stand near the entrance, tiny tables and stools on the side of the footpath, and of course the aroma of the coffee, this cafe could be easily missed. Circa Expresso has been on the social radar since it first opened in early 2012. After my first visit with a friend late last year, I’ve been eager to come back! This time round, I thought I’d take J there too!

Renovations over a period of 6 weeks has given the cafe a more antique and funky vibe. The menu, presented in a small wooden clipboard, has changed slightly since my last visit.

HCAT – double smoked free-range ham, avocado mix, tomatoes, gouda cheese, house relish & rocket sandwich ($12)

Best sandwich I’ve had in a long time! The generous serve of ham was fresh, along with the melted cheese, rocket salad and sauce of some sort added a layer of texture and intense flavour. The two slices of thick sourdough toast were warm and crispy. Not to mention all the grains and seeds in that toast – definitely nutritional and sure to please!

House made beef kofte with roast red capsicum, artichokes, semi dried tomatoes, cornichon & rocket sandwich ($13)
