Chef’s Gallery, George Street (take 2)

I was out with the family and we were walking along George Street in search for a place to have a light dinner. My parents really enjoyed our last dining experience at Chef’s Gallery so we took another visit. Once again, it did not disappoint!

Prawn and pork wonton noodles in a Shanghainese style spicy sauce ($13.90)

It’s not a soup-based dish – that’s what we discovered. However, the aroma filled my nostrils as the waitress brought it to our table.  The noodles were very silky smooth, and the sauce gave it a rich flavour. Are these actually hand-pulled noodles? I’ve always wanted to take a hand-pulling noodle class with a Chinese noodle master! Apparently, the dough should be soft, pliable and easily stretched without breaking. That’s what the noodles were like here!

Spinach noodles wok fried with dried prawn roe ($17.90)

The colour of the noodles was quite unusual. I’ve never seen green noodles before, let alone consume them. I could barely taste the spinach in the noodles – could it simply be colouring? Nevertheless, this dish was delicious! But just a little too oily.

Macanese style mini burger filled with pork fillet, lettuce, pork floss and mayo ($13.90)

Not a very traditional Chinese dish. We ordered it because it looked cute! The bread was very crispy and sweet!
